The Sunflower Coast

The sun is setting the sky on fire — violet fading into gold above a sea gone soft and pink at the edges. A little white car has stopped on the cliff road, right where the sunflowers grow thickest, as if its passengers couldn't resist one more look before the light was gone. Below, a village of terracotta roofs holds onto the hillside the way it has for centuries.

This is the kind of view that makes people pull over. A postcard from a place that isn't on any map, painted from memory and longing in equal measure.
